Stanford Days 3 & 4
Whew! It's been a busy couple of days. Bobby and I got to sleep in on Friday and then enjoyed a late breakfast at Cafe Borrone. It was yummy!
Then I had neuropsych testing from 12:30 - 3:30! If you ever want to feel like a dunce, do a neuropsych workup... Three hours of memory, vocabulary, math, fine motor, and screenings for anxiety, depression etc.... It was exhausting. But I am curious to see how I performed compared to the last time I was assessed in 2016. One of the upsides is that I have a solid baseline established and we will be able to tell if this new issue has had any effect on my cognitive function...I don't think it has....but it will be really interesting to find out for sure!
After testing we did some errands to Target, Dollar Tree and Costco. Then back to our home base for a delicious dinner cooked by Denis!
Then I finally got to shower (I had to wait 24 hours after the angio) and got to bed.
This morning, we got up and headed up to San Francisco for a late breakfast with Sara, Ryan & Lily at their home. We got to FaceTime with James & Jacob AND Lucas! All 4 cousins on a call together! It was fun and everyone enjoyed the chance to see and talk to one another. After breakfast we all walked to the park and hung out in the sunshine for a bit. The park near their house is seriously amazing and I can't wait to visit again with the boys so they can play there!
I got a nap while Bobby watched the USC game and then we headed back to Palo Alto. Our hosts threw a BBQ for us and invited friends and neighbors who have all been kind enough to offer their support in the next few weeks. Bobby's cousin Margie was also able to join us. It was a great time and everyone was so nice... We have lots of new friends and a whole list of people who we can call if anything should come up and we need help while we are here.
God is so good and just has surrounded us with support and love. He has done the same for our family at home. Mahalo to the Youngs and Miyagawa for taking James out and just loving on him so much! He is having the time of his life and it is really helping him to stay positive and not be so focused on us being away. Jakey has also been handling things well and we praise God for this!
I would like to ask for prayer for our friend BC. She is also up here from Hawaii for surgery (the day after mine). She was in the ER all day today with what ended up being an extreme case of vertigo. But it caused severe vomiting, nausea, dizziness and pain. We are praising God that she is recovering and that Stanford doctors have determined that this will not delay her surgery. But please pray that she continues to improve and gain strength for her surgery on Oct 2.
We thank God for each and every one of you! Your prayers continue to give us strength and encouragement! We love you!
